Miguel Hidalgo was a Mexican priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independance. Hidalgo was astonished by the poverty he saw around him.In 1810 Hidalgo gave "The Cry of Dolores", a speech that would mark the beginning of The Mexican War of Indepence. He then marched across Mexico to recruit an army of almost 90,000 poor farmers and civilians. Hidalgo's army attacked and killed Spanish soldiers in small numbers along the way. Eventually Hidalgo and his men met their demise when 6,000 highly trained Spanish soldiers with advanced weaponry were sent to destroy the rebellion. Hidalgo was captured, and executed by a firing squad on July 30,1811
